Personal Websites
Please note: All of these websites were created and deployed before I developed an interest in user-centered design and entered the HCI program at Georgia Tech.
| My Wedding Website John and Jessica's Wedding Website As a web designer, the first thing that popped into my mind after John popped the question was "I've got to create a wedding website!" Now, that might be a bit of an exaggeration, but I can honestly say I began planning the website before I began planning the wedding itself. I wanted to put a site up that reflected the style of the wedding and mix in a little fun with the necessary information. Also, since John and I were from different places, many of my friends and family back home didn't know him very well and vice versa. I had a blast putting it together and it became a very useful tool for the out-of-towners. Skills/Software Used HTML, ASP, CSS, SSI, Adobe Photoshop, Macromedia Flash | ![]() |
| Dr. Grant, English Teacher My dad wanted to provide his senior English students with an internet resource where they could find class syllabi, assignment help, classroom policies, and additional useful information. He wanted to use a picture of himself hiking in Scotland as the site's main graphic. I used that picture to create all of the other pictures on the site. He also wanted to keep the overall design simple and understated. My goal in this project was to create a site to which my dad would be proud to refer his students and one they would find beneficial and enjoyable. For me, the design of this site came together very easily and quickly. Skills/Software Used HTML, CSS, Adobe Photoshop, Javascript | ![]() View site |
| Lanny Grant Lanny Grant is an up-and-coming professional writer seeking an outlet for his work. The first iteration of the site provided him with a fun and stylistic site which displays his skill and creativity in an environment his readers will enjoy browsing and revisiting. I designed the layout, navigation, and some of the graphics (others are clipart), and the animated Flash menu. Choosing to concentrate on screenwriting, Lanny requested his site be pared down to feature his writing and career progress. View the new site here. | Mrs. Grant's Math Class My mom was an 8th grade math teacher who wanted a site she could use to provide students with the latest assignments. I created a simple site the students could quickly and confidently navigate regardless of their internet experience. To promote school spirit and a love of math, I used the school colors and a mathematical theme. It was also important that my mom be able to update the assignments on her own, so I provided her with a password protected page through which she could update the assignments database using ASP. Balancing the needs of the student and teacher resulted in a site that was not only functional, but engaging as well.
